We purchased the Luis Cañas Crianza 2010 Rioja for around $18 on the “advice” of a wine shop shelf sign. What a pleasant discovery! The aroma is filled with dark chocolate and plums followed by flavors of chocolate, dark berries, and a hint of tobacco. The mouth feel is velvety smooth with just the right amount of tannins providing a soft finish.
This very enjoyable medium bodied wine was the perfect pairing with our Ribeye steak and roasted vegetable dinner.
Get it.
I generally like Rioja, this one sounds like a winner. I will be on the lookout for it.
